We are a cover band, covering songs from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s and beyond.

Covering artist such as, Elton John, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and America and so on.

People:

 “Garry Garcia” is a native of Hawaii from the Island of Oahu, has 2 children a daughter and a son and a granddaughter, met and married his wife in Hawaii a “farmers daughter of Ohio” in 1984 and moved to Ohio in 1994. I play a Ovation Classical Guitar with D’Addario EJ44C extra hard tension strings, a 1987 Seagull (S6) acoustic electric with Wyres TB1152 handmade strings and a Epiphone "John Lennon" special edition acoustic electric with Martin custom light strings, no picks.

“Ron McDole” is a native of the Lancaster Ohio area. A musician since the age of 15, he helped form the group “Brandy”.  After High school he spent a couple of years in Southeast Ohio and West Virginia playing country music and growing up. Ron is also married to an Amanda "farmer’s daughter” and has 4 daughters and 2 grandsons. His sound comes from Takaminie guitars, Elixer strings, Zoom acoustic effects, and “V” brand picks.

 

Common Soul - the name...

 

Was taken from both names in a rhyming sense, (Garcia – McDole / Common Soul).  We are common in that we liked and knew a little about each others style of music before we met, “ I  (Garry G.) had only played solo, and found it hard to find a good guitarist and singer like Ron who didn’t smoke, drink, or do drugs!” We cut our first CD last December “Soul Searching” to share with our family and friends for their support in 2008, and to promote our group.

We are looking forward to a great “ 09”  with  new relationships and opportunities to share our kind of music.
